Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are about to enbark on the construction of two new European Pressurized Reactors (EPR), which are located in Somerset on the Hinkley Point C (HPC) site. These two reactors will provide low-carbon and reliable power; answering to almost 7% of the UK’s electrical requirements.
As a partnership of Edvance UK, Assystem is looking for 9 Mechanical Engineers to join our site-based technical teams for the HPC project.
Day to day tasks
As a Civil Engineer working for the Site Engineering Team, the consultant will be in charge of the day to day review and resolution of engineering issues coming from contractors and constructors on site.
Amongst the 9 positions, 3 are Senior, 3 are intermediate and 3 are graduate roles. Activities include (indicative list):
Manage the development of the design to incorporate the resolution of open points from readiness review, minor modifications and changes initiated by Construction Contract Partners
Liaise with Construction Contract Partners to ensure that changes to designs are compliant with requirements in relation to constructability
Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that changes to designs are fully integrated with the Plant Configuration and associated design packages
Manage the preparation and verification of detailed design deliverables
Collate design information and present for readiness review
Respond to civil engineering related issues for the HPC Site Desgin Management Team, working closely with the Site Engineering Team and on site contractors.
Other activities may include:
Response to Request For Information (RFI), Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) raised against released design packages,
Management of issues raised in connection with the Technical Specifications and follow-up on the various technical open points
Resolution of open points, • liaison with the appropriate stakeholders within the Site Design Liaison Team (SDLT) to resolve issues raised against released design packages,
Review and Acceptance of Design Evolution Notices (DEN) on behalf of Site Engineering
Management of interfaces to ensure compliance with Site Configuration.
The technical scope includes: concrete and steel structures, civil equipment, anchor plates, finishing works, earthwork, roads and networks.
Essential – hard skills
Civil engineering background and knowledge of nuclear civil design
Knowledge of building construction
Experience on site and interaction with constructors, client and design teams
Essential – soft skills
Team player and delivery-focused Desirable Knowledge of CDM regulation,
English – Spoken and written
Knowledge of CDM regulation, ETC-C
Quality and nuclear safety culture
Knowledge of the Eurocodes
French language skills
Graduate in Civil and Structural engineering or Construction management (desirable)
