The Altrincham Highways team is looking to enhance and enlarge our team with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to deliver. We are looking for a Highways design Engineer to meet our expanding workload and assist in the delivery of highway schemes. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of a packages of work on a range of highways designs and studies, working closely with the Technical leads and Project Manager.
The team is part of our national highways sector supporting major clients including Highways England, the Welsh Government, Major Contractors and Local Authorities. Our diverse range of projects provides a varied workload at all stages from feasibility, design and construction of major infrastructure.
The position will primarily be based in our Altrincham office which is situated close to the Town Centre Transport Hub with local and regional rail and transport links and has free on-site car parking. Located in a modern office housing a multi-disciplinary team we embrace a flexible working environment that gives our staff the freedom to balance their work and home life. Our current portfolio of projects include, 2 major Smart Motorway Projects within the D&B environment, the M62 J10 -12 and the M6 J21a to 26, The Third Menai Crossing feasibility study, the Deeside Corridor improvement, as well as a range of local authority schemes including major junction improvements and pavement maintenance schemes. We also lead on a range of innovation projects including advising Highways England on Air Quality and the Signaling for Road Works Initiative providing our staff the ability to gain a diverse range of experience. We also deliver services through our prominent place on regional frameworks including the AGMA Star Framework and the North Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency.
Our approach is to embrace the latest technologies in our delivery through our Digital Transformation initiative. Our legacy of using BIM and technologies is evidenced through our modeling expertise in design and asset management through our recent projects such as the Trafford Line Metrolink Extension and our Smart Motorway projects.
+ Experience in the field of Highways Design with demonstrable knowledge of UK standards including DMRB and MCHW.
+ Experience as a designer on highway projects.
+ Experience of using current Software design packages.
+ Knowledge of H&S and the implementation of CDM on projects
+ Experience of Checking documentation in accordance with QA standards
+ Commercial awareness of project delivery
Other preferable experience:
+ Coaching and mentoring junior staff
+ Higher Education Qualification (Degree preferred) in Civil Engineering or similar field
+ Candidates should be progressing their Professional Qualifications through a recognized Institution (ICE or CIHT).
