Elekta Group operates a category and business driven procurement operation. This organization operates across four main direct material countries situated in UK/Netherlands/Sweden/China, and 3 indirect regions Americas, EMEA and China/APAC. The Procurement operation is structured as a matrix organization with centralized leadership for Direct Procurement/ Indirect Procurement/ Supplier Development & Quality and the Local Management in each of the regions for direct and indirect material.
The Senior Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer reports into the Head of New Product Introduction and Engineering Change.
The purpose of the role is to bring manufacturing engineering and production quality expertise into the product creation environment to assist product management and engineering design and development teams to bring products to market while meeting business objectives such as time to market, cost of goods and ownership, quality, procurement strategies. This will require close engagement with Elekta existing and new suppliers to manage and mitigate the risk associated with onboarding new products and ensure optimum supplier performance.
Maintain a high competence level in, and continually develop, personal skills in Manufacturing Engineering Value Engineering techniques, LEAN process techniques, SAFe and problem-solving techniques, and make use of these techniques in the post-holders daily work.
Lead the involvement of business line procurement, manufacturing and quality teams during early phases of product creation and in transfer of designs from engineering domain into operational activities.
Develop positive relationships with Internal and External interfaces, including suppliers, category heads, procurement heads, R&D, manufacturing and service ensuring customer requirements are understood and achieved.
Be a centre of expertise in new product development, support the development of skills, capabilities and capacity of global supply chain management personnel.
Support the refinement of Product Creation and Design Transfer process and ensure thisis subject to continuous improvement methodology in mind at all times
Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance quotas
Provide technical support to business line teams for supplier re-sourcing programs.
Represent Supply Chain Management during technical and engineering decision making to ensure objectives and requirements of SCM are considered and met during Product Creation Process (PCP) projects.
Apply Supply Chain Management strategies to establish new supply chain solutions for new products, identify risks and mitigation plans to ensure business continuity for released product. Support make/buy decision making.
Work at key supplier sites to identify and close gaps in manufacturing capability, introduce and promote LEAN principles & methodology. Plan and deliver improvement projects to given timescales.
Communicate progress, risks and issues for escalation to Operations management
Interface with the Product Creation Process project teams and produce plans and activities that support product introduction at the right time, at the right cost and the right quality
Contribute to the Design Transfer process utilizing manufacturing engineering, Lean, quality management and supply chain management skills as and where appropriate.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion
Support the creation of development and mock-up products alongside the project team.
Encourage the adoption of standardized design criteria across all product lines
Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems.
Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process

Take decisions for Procurement in accordance with the business directives and strategy.
Authority on day to day operational supply chain and manufacturing decision making with a given project.
Approval of supplier plans, proposals and products.
Signatory and sign off for ECOs, CAPA, PPAP, Manufacturing Reviews and PVPs where required.
Relevant Knowledge, skills and competences
A minimum of HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
A strong electro-mechanical engineering and manufacturing background is essential.
Experience of successful regular use of quality planning, LEAN tools, problem solving techniques, process improvement, value engineering, preventative quality tools, part approval.
Strong experience in successfully transferring innovation projects into manufacturing and/or a global supply chain.
Advanced knowledge of ISO13485, 9001, 14001 and application to Elekta procurement and its supply chain.
Knowledge of and use of ERP and/or PDM systems.
Fluent in English.
Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
Knowledge of Enovia, QPulse, JIRA or other Enterprise type systems is desirable.
Experience of interfacing with innovation personnel, manufacturing, supply chains and senior management.
Strong interpersonal communication and positive influencing skills.
Motivated self-starter capable of working on own initiative with problem solving attitude whilst also being an effective team player.
Ability and willingness to travel to global locations
Experience of facilitating improvement workshops or forums an advantage.
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to self-manage and prioritize workload in a high-pressure environment
Medical industry and product domain knowledge are desirable.
Elekta product knowledge is desirable
Previous experience of working on customer sites in high pressure environments an advantage
