WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a Systems Engineer, you will be working as part of integrated engineering teams to develop systematic solutions as required.
This is a demanding role, requiring close liaison between various Engineering teams. The role requires a high level of technical expertise and personal accountability in order that the products meet the required level of safety and performance.
Significant drive and energy, strong systems engineering skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed.
The candidate must be a team player who is prepared to work with a multi-site engineering team within RBSL and the customer community. The individual will be required to work across geographical and cultural divides to draw together a comprehensive engineering capability that will derive balanced system solutions.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Analysis, derivation, decomposition and allocation of customer and stakeholder requirements to system, sub-system and component levels using formal methods and tools (DOORS).
Development and management of System Architectures through Behavioural and Logical Models (SysML) in accordance with requirements and the system design.
Coordinating with the wider Engineering team and sub-system subject matter experts to drive a coherent, balanced and compliant system design.
Development of System and Sub-system design documentation including system and sub-system specifications, design descriptions, engineering plans and maturity assessments.
Development of system test plans, performing system test and the production of test reports and customer acceptance evidence reports.
Working with Customer, User, Engineering and Procurement teams to assist in resolving design queries, problems and conflicts.
Supporting the design review process in accordance with the planned development lifecycle and maturity plan.
Actively engaging with the project team for the development and monitoring of vehicle design systemic properties and physical architecture concepts.
Supporting trade studies to evaluate system and sub-system concepts and to establish design solutions.
Technical maturity planning and management including Technology, System, and Interface Readiness Levels.
Participate in internal and external meetings, briefings and design reviews. This may involve:
Undertaking technical presentations.
The generation and review of technical reports and reporting on progress.
Participating in technical debate and group problem solving.
Briefing and working with Customers and Users.
Provide engineering input to project submissions including cost estimating, project plans, and progress reports.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline with postgraduate experience within an engineering environment
Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Be self-motivated and be able to work with the minimum of supervision within a team environment
Understanding of SysML modelling techniques
Competent in the following software packages:Microsoft Office; DOORS; SysML toolsets, Product Lifecycle Management tools such as TeamCenter
Ideally have an understanding of Armoured Fighting Vehicles
Experience of at least one of the following would be highly desirable:
Architecture Modelling
Requirements management
Interface Management
Acceptance & Certification.
