We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to work from our Blackburn office.
To fully support from a Quality function all specific new sector contracts, to Project Manage orders and work as part of a team approach from initial order status through to processing and post-delivery operations, full verification and adherence to customer specific requirements is paramount to the role.
The holder of this position will possess the ability to interpret, understand, qualify and verify customer specifications along with the ability to determine technical queries and specific requirements for all potential enquiries and future orders.
To effectively manage all Internal & External customer concerns from initial containment, effective countermeasure and preventative measures through to final close out by establishing cross functional 8D teams.
Manage all customer containment activities internal and external including disposition and analysis of defects found and communicated to the customer.
Analyse quality data collected to identify continuous improvement.
Maintain and develop quality visual standards in line with customer expectations.
Coordinate APQP/Control Plans for all new projects undertaken.
Act as investigation leader or team member as and when required for corrective and preventive action including customer, supplier and production.
Development of Control Plans and PFMEA.
Key involvement with new product introduction (NPi), emphasis on continuous quality improvement.
Manage and monitor supplier product quality at goods in through to all Production stages and initiate corrective actions internal and with suppliers as and when necessary.
Must have substantial Quality Management experience in a distribution or manufacturing business preferably within the Steel Industry
Must have experience of directly dealing with new sector related customers regarding quality concerns, audits & improvement activities.
Must have extensive practical experience of working with a recognised world class new sector related quality system – ISO 9001 minimum.
Working knowledge of material testing (Destructive and Non-destructive) processes
Should be able to apply formal quality improvement techniques such as 8D, lead cross functional teams in using the techniques to deliver measurable improvements.
Has an understanding of, and can apply lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate waste.
Will be required to conduct audits internally and externally at supplier’s location as and when required.
Undertake audits to ISO 9001: 2015 System, Process and Product.
Maintain quality/supplier concerns platform including timely closure.
Monitor and report on Supplier Performance.
Inform the Group Quality Manager of all quality related concerns and trends
