Summary of Role
The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of Infrastructure projects and also provide some operational support for Next’s Head Office environment, predominantly based at Next's Head Office in Leicester but occasionally requiring work in and around other UK based sites.
The role includes but is not limited to the project delivery of server, infrastructure & storage platforms and solutions that meet Next’s evolving business requirements.
Mentor other engineers in the team and take a lead role in large and critical projects whilst adhering to and promoting team standards.
Drive the adoption of new technologies where financial or technology benefits are proven to benefit Next.
You will also be involved in incident management and resolution, change management, problem management, request management, disaster recovery, upgrades to existing servers and systems, and maintaining environmental records of Next’s infrastructure.
Provide regular reporting to senior management team.
You will take part in a weekly callout rota. Overtime and some shift changes are expected as many systems can only be installed or changed outside of normal business hours.
IT experience working in a large corporate environment
Flexibility to cover unsociable hours and peak periods at short notice
Experience using Microsoft technologies in the server and application arenas
Proven knowledge and use of the following technologies:-
All Windows Server OS versions
Microsoft Active Directory
VMware vSphere v6/HyperV
Ability to lead and project manage the delivery of large-scale platform solutions
Be able to work on your own initiative and prioritise in a fast moving environment
Demonstrate excellent problem resolution skills
Work well as a member of a team
Good communication skills both verbal and written, pitched to the appropriate level.
Clean driving license and access to own transport
Microsoft Systems Centre 2012 (Full Suite)
Citrix Netscaler ADC
PowerShell and/or other programming experience
Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016
SAN experience (preferably HP/IBM/EMC based)
Industry recognised qualifications such as MCP, MCSE advantageous
Self-motivating and able to identify and define development requirements
