Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
Our aspiration is to develop class leading dimensional quality in our products and processes, applying the latest technologies and approaches. The Dimensional Maturation Engineer will have two key functions, ensuring: 1) parts are designed sympathetically to support delivery the dimensional quality targets; 2) tooling and assembly process designs are capable of achieving the required dimensional quality. During the launch, a proactive approach to quality and problem solving will be key; as well as collaborating with internal and external suppliers in order to conduct root cause analysis, enact and communicate to the business action plans to resolve them. The role will also support the introduction of new inline measurement technologies, supporting the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure the system is fit for purpose.
Support Engineering and Manufacturing engineering team to develop measurement strategy;
Support definition of part location strategies;
Plan and deliver maturation activities for the launch phases;
Manage Cubing / Gauging Fixture design delivery and use during maturation phase;
Work with suppliers to mature part quality;
Work with Manufacturing Engineering to mature assembly quality;
Support problem solving activities during the launch phases;
Ensure quality processes are fit for purpose;
Work as part of a team to deliver the project on time, cost and meet the targets.
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
Minimum 3 years relevant automotive experience;
Dimensional / gauging / measurement experience;
Good understanding of current measurement technologies;
Basic GD&T awareness;
Essential project management skill for timing, resource and cost;
Proficient MS office software;
Motivated and able to work autonomously & as part of a team;
Good communication skills, written & verbal;
Cross functional teamwork skills;
Engineering Degree or equivalent;
Extensive knowledge of vehicle assembly processes & techniques;
Experience with composite materials assembly
Analytical, structured, confident, with good communication skills.
Skilled at forming cross-functional relationships and teams
Must be able to work alone and as part of a small team
Self-motivated and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
Travel may be required at times to support engineering / supplier activities globally, but travel requirements are minimal.
This role is will be based at Hethel with the potential to work from the Midlands office.
