The unit is seeking to recruit an experienced database and systems developer with a strong background in database and business system development and maintenance. The post holder will work within our multidisciplinary team to provide support for development and maintenance of unit-wide business systems and clinical trial databases, plus contribute to the ongoing improvement of system reporting, documentation and accessibility.
NCTU is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit (http://www.ukcrc-ctu.org.uk) within the University of Nottingham. The unit designs and conducts high quality national and international multicentre trials across a range of health topics.
Candidates should have a minimum HNC in Computer Science or allied subject, plus substantial work experience in a similar role or proven track record with extensive work experience in a similar role. They must be able to demonstrate considerable practical involvement in writing and maintaining static and dynamic web pages plus writing and maintaining technical documentation. Proficiency in writing SQL for interrogation of relational databases and the ability to program (specifically using VBScript, ASP and SQL server) and to write server-sided scripts / scheduled tasks are essential. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of implementing IT systems for office automation and of setting up multi-user web based systems along with windows server administration duties.
This is a fixed term, full-time (36.25h per week) post for a period of 12 months, with possibility to extension subject to funding. However applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time to a minimum of 0.8 FTE, 29 hours per week. Please indicate on your application the hours you wish to work.
