Graduate / Junior Engineer (Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Material Science)
Lumentum has an opportunity for a Graduate / Junior Engineer to join our Chip R&D team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design and verify advanced photonic integrated circuits and devices, specifically semiconductor laser and integrated laser / modulator devices, to enable the rapid and successful completion of chip NPI programmes. The role is based at our Caswell, Northamptonshire offices.
The Graduate / Junior Engineer . will also produce, assess and analyse measurement data and use that information to make informed contributions to chip design, working with the wider chip team as required. You will need to work closely with other members of the laser design and integrated laser-modulator team, as well as with members of the wider chip R&D community, the product engineering, test, reliability and process architect teams. You must be proactive and be able to work independently and under general supervision.
Use and develop a wide range of measurement techniques to assess advance optoelectronic components including both DC and AC measurements.
Where necessary automate measurements to increase throughput and speed of data gathering.
Use computational modelling tools to further enhance understanding of device performance.
Contribute to chip design work, including lithographic mask layout when required.
Interact with wider R&D teams at Caswell and within Lumentum as a whole.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area (for example physics, electrical engineering, Material Science, Electronics)
Ability to work in a team, and with excellent organisational skills
Able communicator, verbal and written
Seeking someone who is keen to learn and develop new skills
Keen to learn and develop within a laboratory environment
Caswell is based in a rural location in Towcester, Northamptonshire and is not supported by public transport.
