The Engineering team is an EMEA-wide Centre of Excellence (COE) for the technical delivery of professional and managed services to Insight’s clients. Tasked with the on-going co-creation of value, Insight’s Engineering team represents the pinnacle of technical and delivery excellence within the organisation.
The Engineer is responsible for providing expert consultancy and delivery capability to clients, taking ownership of projects through to completion, maintaining an industry-leading experience for managed services environments, and pursuing new and innovative strategies when resolving client challenges.
Engineers are subject matter experts (SME’s) in their relevant practice area(s) and are widely recognised by colleagues, vendors and clients as a strategic technology leader through their application of knowledge and experience. In addition, through the implementation and innovation of client solutions they deliver outstanding on-going client satisfaction, and facilitate positive, long-lasting, strategic relationships.
Develop strong business relationships with clients, to understand their requirements, scope projects and integrate Insight’s services with existing systems to reliably deliver the best in class solutions.
Responsible for the end‐to‐end offering, supporting the successful transition of services through the ‘plan, build, manage’ stages of delivery, ensuring successful transition to the Customer Operations Centre of Excellence (COE).
Contribute to the management of project deliverables, including development, implementation, configuration, integration, testing and optimisation of client solutions.
Provide proactive technical support to clients, taking ownership for the resolution of technical issues.
Act as a point of escalation, utilising the support of teammates, the wider Insight business, vendors and partners where appropriate to ensure the swift and accurate resolution of technical issues.
Accountable for the development of knowledge base articles, marketing materials, operating procedures, work instructions, designs and supporting documentation that is used both internally and externally to deliver solutions against the required industry standards.
Support the pre-sales cycle and provide consultancy, including audits, technical scoping, and assessments to assist the sales teams in their proposals.
Actively pursue net-new opportunities and engage the relevant accounts teams in pre‐sales discussions to assist in the on-going sale of solutions.
Ensure recommendations are well informed and aid clients to conceptualise the on-going evolution of services solutions.
Act as industry expert in respective technology areas, and actively drive the adoption and understanding of those technologies both within Insight and Insight’s clients.
Teach, train, coach and mentor teammates; promoting teammate satisfaction and enabling career progression.
To achieve and maintain industry-recognised certifications, as required by the business.

Extensive practical experience with Linux distributions, in particular Redhat (CentOS) and Ubuntu.
Practical experience with a variety of forms of scripting, in particular Bash, Python and PowerShell.
Capable of leading and managing complex integration projects between platforms / tools / systems.
Experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with Git version control / code repository tools.
Good understanding of a variety of deployment models, including cloud, virtualisation, and physical.
Solid understanding of a variety of API formats, in particular REST.
Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to verify, detect, and remediate defects.
Strong reporting capability, and experience generating reports for a variety of audiences.
Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM platform and the associated modules would be strongly beneficial.
Understanding of deployment pipelines.
Familiarity with containerisation deployment models.
Experience working with as part of a project delivery team.
Deployment of self-healing tools / scripts.
