A new opportunity is available for a Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Kirkham bakery.
As a key member of the Engineering Team, you will use your in-depth technical engineering skills and knowledge, collaborating closely with production colleagues, to become the driving force behind a structured methodical programme of reliability centred improvement across the whole site.
As the Reliability Engineer you will proactively facilitate improvement activities, based on analysis of top loss events, that improve asset operation, design and maintenance. Along with develop, coach and mentor all members of the Engineering Team in modern approaches to increase asset reliability reduce costs.
You will also drive a structured approach to developing new maintenance plans, using FMECA as needed, for assets of highest business criticality. Drive practical Asset Care activities with front line production colleagues to foster a culture of asset ownership and increased performance, so therefore you will have excellent commination and business partnering skills. You will act with integrity at all times to continue to build a culture of professional engineering and proactive equipment-focussed continuous improvement skills

About the Role:
As the Reliability Engineer you will be supported by the engineering function on site and you will have the confidence in making decisions that they can stand by. You will report directly in to the Maintenance Manager for the site and be required to give routine updates on current status of reliability alongside the team.
You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to determine the scope, business case, deliverables and learnings for each new task.
The Reliability Engineer will ensuring that plant history is captured to high standards, enabling equipment performance review. Where you will analyse plant history, creating standard performance reports and driving colleague improvement. Ensuring that the Operations Review structure is supported appropriately by overseeing actions through to completion. You will also ensure that high standards to 5S levels are maintained across the factory, including workshops, while ensuring that both chronic and repeat downtime events are rigorously assessed for true root cause. Along with ensuring that the site is always ready for internal and external food safety audits (e.g. BRC) and internal and external legal compliance audits (e.g. HSE).
Technical Engineering Experience in a similar position, preferably through recognised time-served apprenticeship in manufacturing
Technical qualifications and competence in mechanical/electrical at a minimum NVQ Level 3
Skills and capability to coach staff through fault finding on a variety of equipment/situations
Experience of working with project teams to influence design improvements
Strong experience in ensuring safe working and safe systems of work are utilised and followed
Strong evidence of good interpersonal, communications and customer engagement skills
Experience and knowledge of Lean and Asset Care Excellence techniques – particularly root cause
Strong knowledge of improvement techniques and approaches that drive reliability / cost
Specific facilitation experience of managing reactive to proactive asset management and associated reliability techniques – e.g. FMECA
Specific experience of Total Productive Maintenance or ‘Operator-Led’ Asset Care
Knowledge of Statutory Compliance obligations – particularly high risk utilities topics
Incorporated Status with Professional Institution
Knowledge and use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
