What we do
Since 1966, Max Fordham LLP has worked with the world’s leading architects to create beautifully engineered buildings. We make buildings work. We engineer the air, light, sound and energy in buildings.
Our business is the creative, innovative and elegant design of building services, and our engineers bring an understanding of the whole building, from early stage design concept to the detail of delivery. We are the originators of architectural engineering - the drive for engineers to care as much about the finish of the buildings as the architects.
Our team of specialist Acoustic Engineers designs and delivers outstanding acoustic environments for buildings of all scales in a wide variety of sectors - cultural, educational, residential and commercial. Our recent projects include the Dorothy Garrod Building for Newnham College, Cambridge and the refurbishment of Fairfield Halls concert hall and theatre in Croydon.
At the heart of our business is a Partnership owned by the people who work in it. Founded on cooperative principles, and underpinned by a strong ethos and values, we share the rewards and responsibility. It is an exciting and fulfilling way to work and we have been recognised as the best engineer in Building Magazine’s Good Employer Guide on no less than eight occasions since 2008.
What you could do
You will join the team of ten specialist Acoustic Engineers. You will learn to think about buildings in an integrated way - enabling you to solve problems other approaches might not even find.
You will be working with leading architects, taking responsibility for all aspects of acoustic design - attending design meetings, making on-site measurements and producing simulations with room acoustic and noise mapping software.
We attach great importance to the people who join us, and our founding values remain true today. We are a limited Liability Partnership. The structure of our organisation is designed to give all who work with us a voice in key decisions, and all employees are considered for partnership after four years of continuous employment with us.
Now what to do
Applicants would be either a recent graduate or may already have up to two years’ experience working as an acoustic engineer. The position is available to start immediately in our London Office. You should have a degree with minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent in a STEM discipline. If your degree is not in acoustics then you should also hold a suitable acoustics qualification such as the IOA diploma or be able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience.
