This is your role. What part will you play?
The Senior Tendering / Tendering Engineer for Transmission Service business in Leeds or Newcastle reports to the Head of Order Winning in the team consisting currently of 2 Sales & 8 Tendering employees. The function is responsible for all technical & commercial related Requests for Quotations in the Bid execution phases for the Transmission Service business within the business segment of Siemens Energy.
Areas of responsibility:
Preparation, co-ordination and management of medium to large tenders including;
Liaise with the business area management, finance, legal and operational departments to determine Bid / No Bid decision on strategy and resources.
Create a resource forecast for all tenders.
Preparation of proposal / quotation documents, technical specification, and pricing schedules, etc.
Develop and understand terms and conditions, liaise with commercial department to complete proposal returns
Co-ordination and calculation of subcontract and material pricing
Follow up proposal responses including post-proposal negotiation.
Arrange and run proposal reviews and handovers
A detailed understanding of;
Relevant Terms & Conditions
and be responsible for the compliance of the tender quality documentation and procedures.
Identify new and develop working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
Develop working relationship with customers to obtain feedback on tendering performance and understand market position and pricing.
Evaluation of order on receipt to ascertain price, terms and conditions, delivery, costs etc. agree with quotation
To develop CDM Health and Safety and Environmental information in co-ordination with the services safety officer.
- Ensure all work practices conform to ISO9001 and environmental ISO14001.
- Streamline processes to ensure most efficient use of tendering resource
- Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with company policies, for example business conduct guidelines & confidential information.
- Make full use on the non-conformance reporting (NCR) tool ensuring all NCR’s are closed out in a timely manner.
- Ensure constant improvements within the group and ensure that customers, whether internal or external, are at the heart of your activities.
- Ensure that the right quality culture is established, and continuous improvements are conducted according to the agreed strategy.
- Some travel will be required.
What you need to make real what matters.
Passionate about transmission service and the market
Experience in tender management
Knowledge of technology relating to primary and secondary transmission assets
Track record of customer engagement / sales experience
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
Proven ability to work under pressure and to deliver
Commercial and customer focused
Attention to detail
Strong negotiating skills
Able to network and develop key relationships at all levels
Excellent teamwork skills
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or HNC / HND electrical engineering
Relevant industry training and qualifications
Strong understanding of the PM@Siemens & LoA processes
Experience in PQQ, bid preparation, bid management, contract negotiations
Background experience in one or more of the following:
Industry, Renewable Energy, Power Electronics, UK Grid & Distribution Networks / emerging local / micro grids.
