The Utilities business unit delivers design, project management and asset management consultancy services to a wide range of clients in the Water and Energy Sectors, across the UK. From feasibility studies and planning, to design, construction management and operations and maintenance, we bring together the talent and expertise necessary to deliver success, and we are proud of our extensive portfolio. Our Hydraulic Modelling business operates as a UK-Wide technical discipline. We provide technical modelling, operations and strategic support to our clients in Water and Wastewater in the UK, and our Jacobs colleagues working on international projects. The business unit interfaces closely with the Technical Innovation, Digital Solutions and Conveyancing and Storage teams. Workload is very diverse, and we have teams based in a range of locations including Belfast, Manchester, Glasgow, Winnersh, London and Croydon.
Construction, calibration and maintenance of strategic and All-Mains network models
Collating and analysing recorded flow and pressure data
Preparation of site survey and field-testing programmes
Management and co-ordination of field testing for model calibration and validation
Preparation of technical reports
Work closely with colleagues across Jacobs, both locally and internationally;
Provide technical support to client teams and lead client engagement;
Liaise with client staff and stakeholders, from management level to operations level;
Identify needs and develop solutions with a focus on H&S, sustainability, innovation and efficiency;
Ability to lead and develop others - support, guide, provide feedback and performance management of project team
Develop and mentor junior members of the team.
Lead and present at internal and client / stakeholder meetings
Demonstrable previous work history in a relevant role.
Skilled to a good level of proficiency in modelling software such as Synergi, Infoworks, WaterGems or EPAnet
Previous proven ability in a relevant role of model build/update and calibration
Demonstrable knowledge in Solutions Modelling, “Optioneering” and providing operational support for Capital Projects and major works.
Good commercial acumen, with the ability to assess and analyse models to provide innovative and relevant recommendations to clients.
Strong skills in client relationship management, with the ability to deliver professional presentations to clients
Good Technical Report-Writing skills and proven ability of producing technical reports in a previous role.
Skilled in the manipulation and handling of large datasets.
Ability to work with a self-motivated approach, manage and prioritise own workload effectively.
Previous proven ability of Detailed Design of Water / Wastewater Infrastructure schemes is advantageous but not essential.
