Technical Team Lead
We are looking a technical team to lead one of the Xplore Scrum Teams. The main purpose of this role is to lead a team of software engineers, delivering business critical projects whilst maintaining high morale, managing the day-to-day activities in an efficient and professional manner and ensuring all team targets are met.
Xplore is a comprehensive web-based image and data management system designed especially for use in research settings. Used by academic institutions and major pharmaceuticals, it provides a central hub to create, manage, interrogate, share and manage archives for both individual and collaborative studies.
To be the technical coach of a team or domain, recognized and approached by team members.
Oversees the technologies, tools and techniques used within the team
Sets quality goals and development practices within the team, contributes to business practices and ensures that these are adhered to within the team
Work closely with other team leads and development teams to create software that is cohesive.
Actively contribute to the process of continual improvement, with regard to self, team and systems
Drive change to implement efficient and effective strategies as advised by management
Build and promote a positive working environment
Recruit, train and integrate new team members and proactively support the continued development of existing team members
Effectively manage team members in line with company policy and procedures, including performance, development, disciplinary and conflict resolution with effective feedback.
Facilitate the setting of individual’s goals and ensure alignment with team and business objectives
Supervise, train and guide team members
Inspire and motivate team members
Be knowledgeable about each member of your team, their strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness, utilising this information to help improve their performance and career development
Good communicator, can communicate effectively to software developers in a clear and concise manner
3+ years’ experience in line management of software developers.
Strong analytical skills, has the ability to represent an abstract problem in a way that can be evaluated, designed and developed.
Deep and broad technical knowledge.
Strong design skills. Has an in-depth knowledge of common design patterns and an understanding of when to apply the patterns.
