Thales UK has an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Manufacturing Engineer
Team in Crawley, West Sussex This role will be working within our Corporate (DHQ) team. You will be overseeing the technical aspects of both existing and new products to ensure on-cost and on-time delivery methods of manufacture are implemented. Provide day-to-day technical support to the manufacturing build, test and support functions. You will be the link with Engineering/Projects on new or modified product designs, in order to ensure supply chain requirements are understood.
This role would suit a Graduate ready to complete their studies in 2019, looking to kick start their career, or individuals with foundational experience in a related Engineering discipline with a desire to undertake a role in Manufacturing Engineering.
Key responsibilities and tasks:
Maintain ERP, PLM and MES tools, ensuring structure and setup is effective (e.g. BoMs, routings).
Define manufacturing approach and method (e.g. process flows, M/B decision, tooling).
Create, update and validate manufacturing instructions.
Preparing all data for and running Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) on behalf of manufacturing.
Attending Material Review Boards (MRBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) on behalf of manufacturing. Actively managing failures and changes.
Contributing to improvement activities and initiatives including Kaizen/Green Belt teams.
Defining and agreeing layout and infrastructure for product lines/manufacturing.
Key input to manufacturing tasks such as Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), Control Plans and PFMEAs.
Ensuring new STTE and packaging is designed/ produced to meet Manufacturing Schedule.
Working with Engineering to Implement DFx (Manufacture, Cost, Environment).
Research, define and implement Industry 4.0 methods to enable cost or lead time reduction.
Skills, experience & qualifications
Understanding of Manufacturing/Engineering principals (theory)
Strong IT skills (office)
Analytical skills, can see and understand trends in data
Mechanical/Electronic/Manufacturing Engineering Degree
Able to work independently or collaboratively
Ambitious in nature, looks to achieve stretched targets.
Can maintain positive attitude in challenging situations.
