A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join our busy network team has arisen. This role is varied and no two days are the same. The day to day role will be responsible for 3rd line network support for complex incidents and problems. Also working with in-house teams and 3rd parties to turn Business requirements into technical solutions. There will also be opportunities to be involved in a variety of interesting project implementations as we move away from a managed service environment.
Must have deep understanding of Fortinet and Cisco routing and switching technologies to NSE 4 and CCNP experience level (formal qualifications not essential).
Minimum 3 years proven experience in deploying the following networking and security infrastructure solutions:
Design, deployment and support of Fortinet firewalls including FortiManager & FortiAnalyser
Design, deployment and support of Cisco switches and routers
Design, deployment and support of Meraki switches, security devices and wireless devices
The ability to complete maintenance and firmware upgrade activities on the technologies listed above
Strong knowledge and understanding of Infrastructure Security (ACLs, ACS, VRFs, Vlans)
Strong knowledge and understanding of network management tools (SNMP, Solarwinds, PRTG)
Strong knowledge and understanding of MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN and resilient WAN technologies
Strong knowledge and understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills that can adapt to changing priorities
Astute problem solving skills – with the ability to analyse data to reach conclusions
Well organised and methodical approach to work – most importantly seeing tasks through to completion
Deals openly, honestly and transparently
Approachable team player who can motivate and share knowledge effectively
General tasks include:
The design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current network environment
The configuration, implementation and support of firewalls, routing, switching and wireless environments
3rd line network support for complex incidents and problems
Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance
Undertaking network fault investigations using information from multiple sources
Production of network support documentation and drawings
Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies
The support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy
Remote support for on-site engineers
Capacity management and audit of IP addressing
Liaising with project management teams, third-line engineers, service desk, field engineers and 3rd parties on a regular basis
