We are currently looking for an approachable and committed Undergraduate Geologist to join our Ground Engineering team for a 9 to 12 month placement (year in industry). In this role you'll be:
Providing day to day technical input suitable for role as part of a team of Engineers and Technicians e.g. assist in the preparation of desk studies and geological appraisals of site conditions.
Undertaking tasks assigned by the team leader to support design delivery e.g. use AutoCAD and HoleBASE to present geological findings (training on use of software will be provided).
Assist in writing reports and scoping documents for projects.
Explain and discuss projects with other disciplines.
Providing regular feedback of progress to the team leader to assist in the management of delivery and ensure that project delivery meets the client's objectives and requirements.
Ensure tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets.
Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required to deliver project requirements.
We expect the candidate to have:
Competence in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
Experience of GIS or other software (e.g. AutoCAD) desirable but not required.
Driving licence desirable but not required.
?Professional Membership and Qualifications:
Passed second year of an undergraduate degree in Geology/equivalent and be on track to achieve a 2.1 or above.
The ability to work within a team of colleagues, clients and contractors, as well as individually on projects.
Good time-keeping skills.
Good communication skills verbally and written in clear English.
Strong report writing skills.
Attention to detail.
Good analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good report writing skills.
Able to recognise own impact on others and adapt approach where appropriate.
