DESCRIPTION - Elekta’s Procurement function is structured as a matrix organisation with business line driven Direct material and functional objectives, guided by a centralized category, supplier quality and NPI leadership team. The central team is responsible for functional excellence and Indirect material.

The requirements for New Product Introduction vary depending on site and as such this role may report into the local Head of Procurement or the or the local NPI Team Leader or the Global Head of New Product Introduction and Engineering Change.

The purpose of the role of New Product Introduction Engineer is to ensure the overall design transfer of new products, upgrades and improvements from development & engineering into the supply chain and production, ensuring specifications, systems and processes are in place to deliver product to market on time with consistent high quality.

Responsibilities -

Represent Supply Chain Management during technical and engineering decision making to ensure objectives and requirements of SCM are considered and met during Product Creation Process projects.

Support make/buy decision making.

Communicate progress, risks and issues for escalation to SCM management.

Interface with the Product Creation Process project teams and produce plans and activities that support product introduction at the right time, at the right cost and the right quality.

Contribute to the Design Transfer process utilizing manufacturing engineering, Lean, quality management and supply chain management skills as and where appropriate.

Actively participate in, or facilitate, brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental planning meetings, ensuring collaboration and cohesion.

Support the creation of prototype and development products alongside the project team.

Encourage the adoption of standardized design criteria across all product lines.

Devise new solutions to existing production problems.

Ensure the fast turnaround of engineering changes into the supply chain and manufacturing to ensure that product improvements are introduced quickly and cost effectively.

As an expert in family trees, BOMs and engineering change notes, liaise with Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing, Service and Planners to help structure engineering changes correctly, allowing clear communication of information to suppliers and other departments.

Liaise with the Buyers, Suppliers, and Commercial and Spares Planners to determine and implement the point of introduction.

Establish cost benefit data, to include scrap at suppliers, potential to rework, NRE costs, compared with current service costs where applicable.

Build cost benefit data, present recommendations, and gain approvals from business and product management.

Establish Operational related investment costs and justifications.

Maintain knowledge and skills in relevant processes, project management and problem-solving tools and techniques

Authorities -

Signatory and sign off for Engineering Change Orders.

Signatory and sign off for Design Transfer plans and reports at project release gates.

Represent and take decisions on behalf of the wider Supply Chain and Manufacturing at project meetings.

Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies -

A strong manufacturing background is essential.

Demonstrable record of successfully transferring innovation projects into a global supply chain is essential.

Ability to read engineering drawings, Bills of Materials and translate into production processes.

Good understanding of configuration control principals, as employed in an engineering environment.

Strong knowledge of ISO13485, 9001 and their application within supply chains.

Experience of ERP and PLM environments essential.

Experience of facilitating improvement workshops or forums.

Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.

Fluent in English.

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise and influence key stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrable record of delivering stretching targets and successfully managing concurrent tasks.

Experience of interfacing with innovation personnel, manufacturing, supply chains and senior management.

Ability and willingness to travel to global locations.

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to self-manage and prioritize workload in a high-pressure environment.

Medical industry and product domain knowledge are desirable.

Elekta product knowledge is desirable.
