We are looking for a confident Chemist with strong technical knowledge and problem solving skills to develop and implement new and improved products, processes or packaging in order to meet customer needs and keep product supply in the market according to business strategy.
Be technical owner for the packaging range in terms of bottles, caps, pumps, cartons, leaflets, laminates and other primary and secondary packaging and all associated documentation generated internally and externally
Lead and participate in design change projects to develop and implement new or improved products and components – with a focus on product packaging materials
Be responsible for the design documentation for product development or product changes to assure compliance with regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals and medical devices if required
Work in the laboratory to perform testing and evaluation using standard pieces of non-analytical equipment and/or send for testing externally.
Assist the laboratory manager with routine laboratory work and health and safety activities
Arrange contracts and purchase orders with external partners and work with external testing sites where necessary
Be the technical lead at the manufacturer(s) for process improvements and ensure the process and the documentation is performed according to the quality management system requirements
Be the technical lead for trouble shooting and problem solving with the packaging or manufacturing packaging process issues and travel to the sites when required
Assist in evaluating new technical solutions, cost savings initiatives, potential suppliers, partners and customers in order to contribute to important strategic decisions for the company.
Keeping track of costs and spend within a given project budget allocated
Qualifications & Experience:
Several years’ experience in a product development or product engineering role
Knowledge of managing regulatory and technical requirements
Experience of project leadership
Qualified Polymer or Materials Chemist (or equivalent)
Experience of working in a laboratory/other role within a manufacturing/ production environment would also be an advantage
Working knowledge of pharmaceutical requirements e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice and working in a regulated environment (Advantage)
Experience of working with contract manufacture (Desirable)
Experience of manufacturing process trouble shooting and process improvements (desirable)
