Lead and chair weekly external supplier reviews with the cross functional R&D, Quality and Purchasing team, for Pressings & Assemblies commodities.
Be primary point of contact and ‘font of knowledge’ in the team for all materials and manufacturing processes related to Pressings & Assemblies, including design feasibility, costs, and timing.
Manage all DFM and QCD status with responsible suppliers in support of Engineering Managers and Commodity Leaders achieving internal targets.
Build strong influential relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to overcome obstacles.
Provide supplier dimensional data into the OQ and Surface development process
Key duties and responsibilities:
Obtain supplier commodity plans, or use historic data, to support construction of VPP in response to SEL.
Obtain supplier commodity costs, or use historic data, to support cost target setting in response to SEL.
Working in conjunction with purchasing, commodity, and quality engineers to develop strategic supply base for Pressings & Assemblies.
Leading authority in supplier discussions and meetings, implementing and managing minutes where required, using extensive knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes to understand and interrogate all aspects of their quality, cost, and delivery.
Monitor and record all data transactions and EIDs and ensure supplier is always working to the correct data.
Ensure supplier provides timely part feasibility and DFM feedback, to be fed back to engineering teams.
Support the Commodity Lead Expert to develop 5-year commodity strategy plans.
Employ the 5-year commodity strategy plans with purchasing to ensure innovation and competitiveness.
Obtain supplier component dimensional data and input this to the OQ and Surface development process. Support Concept Team and Project Engineers during early hardpoint definition.
Work with the Innovation Team to bring new supplier processes and materials to an implementation ready status.
Monitor activities following Tooling or Part release to ensure on-time delivery.
Support NMQ through quality maturation.
Experience and Qualification:
Project Management experience within automotive engineering / product development.
Strong knowledge of metal component materials and processes.
Experience of leadership of a cross-functional team to meet quality cost and delivery targets.
Experience in project delivery from concept to serial production.
Knowledge of Aston Martin Body Constructions methods is a plus.
Knowledge of Surface development process could be an advantage.
Knowledge on Siemens NX CAD system desirable.
Comfortable working to deadlines and holding others to account.
Able to influence others – even when direct reporting lines are not present.
Creative and courageous to enable achievement of aggressive company targets.
Able to present information in a concise manor to lead others to a clear conclusion.
