We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team based within the Birmingham Office. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your Lighting career in a multi-disciplined technology environment.
You will become a member of an expanding design and consultancy team, taking a role in delivering lighting and electrical design services throughout all stages of project development.
WSP are fully committed to Continued Professional Development and the WSP Lighting & Energy Solutions team are actively involved within the Institution of Lighting Professionals at regional and national levels.
A typical week would include:
- The preparation of exterior lighting and electrical designs for urban and inter urban schemes with both public and private sector clients covering the following fields:
o Highways including motorways, transport, infrastructure, city beautification and residential areas
o Industrial facilities
o Decorative lighting projects
o Sports facilities
o Car parks
o Amenity areas
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Conducting site surveys to determine the existing infrastructure pre-design and lighting assessments for environmental impact and obtrusive lighting assessments.
- Assisting in the production of Environmental Lighting Impact Assessment reports.
- Assisting in the preparation of fee estimates, technical reports, feasibility studies, designs and specifications.
HNC/HND or degree level education in Electrical / Electronic, Lighting, Science, Technology or a related field.
You should have gained or working towards CEng/IEng and MILP status or equivalent.
Experience in lighting design and understanding of relevant British and EU Standards and legislation including Health & Safety.
Knowledge with the relevant aspects of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
Experience of liaising with clients, the public, stakeholders and local authorities.
Experience with completing detailed site inspections / surveys.
Experience of undertaking lighting impact assessments and traffic sign design would also be desirable.
Computer skills including a hands on experience in proprietary lighting and electrical design programmes such as AMTECH, Lighting Reality (Area and Road), AGi32, AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads and 3D Max
