Due to an internal promotion, Southern Housing Group are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer who will join an exciting and dynamic team, within a growing and forward thinking organisation.
SHG is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our in-house team, adding skills and capabilities to both the ‘business as usual’ support activities and the ongoing enhancement and digitisation of the business. The right candidate shall possess a positive mindset, confident to view their opinion and ready to offer solutions to any challenges faced within the department.
This role shall play a leading part in the technical transition of many on-premise systems to cloud and report directly into the Infrastructure Manager. At Southern Housing Group, we leverage many class-leading IT solutions, to help keep our business operational and secure, alongside relevant training, ensuring our team have up-to-date knowledge and skills to configure and maintain these new technologies.
The key focus of the role is to ensure that the Infrastructure team are aligned to BAU & project activities. You will also ensure provision of support to the hybrid environment of on-premise and Azure, Windows based systems and the multiple solutions that interact with and depend upon them. You will review, maintain, troubleshoot and correct production systems in-line with ITIL, industry and company principles.
The role will also hold the Patch Lead responsibility for the existing patch management process within IT, leveraging internal tools to manage and control the release of updates & patches.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with a strong primary skill set that includes Microsoft Windows Server (including routine Powershell knowledge); a good knowledge of VMware ESX and VCentre married to increasing knowledge of IaaS using Azure (including configuration of Azure containers, such as NSGs/ASGs); a strong knowledge of foundation network technologies such as DNS, DHCP and protocols around TCP/IP such as FTP, SMTP; knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure applications such as Exchange Online, SCCM / InTune (Microsoft Endpoint Management), SharePoint Online & MS Teams; and a good level of understanding of Citrix environments and RDS. As this role holds the additional responsibility for the Patch Management process, evidence of utilising and managing Patch Management systems shall also be required.

You will demonstrate real world experience equating to an MCSE, be able to evidence extensive experience of administrating the listed primary technologies, good experience with a selection of the secondary technologies and display a sound level of knowledge on the foundation concepts that make up modern IT systems. You should be able to demonstrate excellent customer care and service skills.
You should be able to plan your time well and schedule using your own initiative, possess strong problem-solving skills and deliver high quality work. You may be required to mentor and coach your colleagues from time to time in order to transfer key knowledge and experience.
