The successful candidate will be joining the AA Consumer finance team focused on further developing marketing, sales and retention capabilities to maintain and grow the current base of 3.2 million members. The role will require an SQL literate candidate, with a desire to pursue a Finance focused career, responsible for developing & maintaining the consumer income database providing the business with understanding and explanation of commercial performance for the £480m annual consumer revenue. The role will also be responsible for populating quarterly income forecast based on inputs provided by the business. You will assist in performance analysis working alongside the Financial Reporting Team, the Financial Systems & Reporting Manager and the Business Partnering Team to provide reporting and insight in to historic and projected performance. In addition to partnering with Finance colleagues you’ll be a direct interface in to the Analytics & MI teams.
What will I be doing?
You'll develop full understanding of various financial modelling undertaken to be able to drive improvements, remediate potential issues and immediately highlight any risks or opportunities within the business
You'll have a full understanding of underlying assumptions within the model, support the update of these and allow continued full use of the model across commercial finance and wider business teams
Support with analysis to understand monthly performance through variance analysis against the forecast/budget.
Support the forecasting & budgeting process, challenging business inputs and understanding any significant changes between forecast cycles.
Partner with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate month end reporting. (BAU plus continuous development to improve speed, accuracy and insight).
Improve financial performance by providing insightful analysis and challenging the business where necessary
Develop an understanding of how key drivers of value inter-relate, with a good understanding of materiality
Support for Head of Finance on ad-hoc projects
What do I need?
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
T-SQL development essential
Ability to develop & maintain stored procedures
Power BI DAX desirable but not essential
Financially numerate with an educational background.
Experience and background in an accounting/finance role.
Enthusiastic and ambitious.
Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well in a team environment
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently
Knowledge of the insurance industry is an advantage
Education and Qualifications:
Graduate level education
Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to prioritise manage and deliver under tight or conflicting deadlines
An innate curiosity & desire to understand and challenge
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
