Position Description/ Overview
The UX Designer is responsible for the research and design of our critical business applications and payment terminal interfaces.
The job of the UX Designer is to envision how people experience our products and bring those concepts to life in a way that feels inspired, refined, and intuitive. You’ll address complex tasks and transform them into accessible and easy-to-use solutions for millions of our users around the world.
The UX Designer will work in a team and collaborate with other Designers, Product Architects, Software Engineers, Technical Documentation, and Product Managers to research, design, test, and iterate solutions to ensure that we’re solving design problems in the best way possible.
To apply you must currently be studying a Degree in Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Interactive Computing, or a related subject. This position will cover your placement year and you will be expected to work full time Monday to Friday in our Belfast office. Placements will begin July 2021 and last for a period of 12 months.
Research real business problems and apply User Centered Design principles to produce intuitive experiences
Interview users to develop personas that give an accurate profile of our customers
Develop and maintain design wireframes and specifications (both lo-fi and hi-fi)
Develop and test prototypes
Utilise and contribute to our Merchant Design System
Collaborate with the Product Architecture team to dig into the problems we are trying to solve
Support Software Engineers to ensure that implementation meets the design requirements
Help instill a user-centered and collaborative culture in the company
Currently enrolled in second year of a relevant Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Interactive Computing or a related subject seeking an industrial placement for third year
Eligibility to work in the UK
A portfolio of work that demonstrates a knowledge of applying User Centered Design principles to be provided with your application
Experience of creating assets in Sketch/Xd/Figma
Passion for and self-motivated interest in User Experience as a profession, not just a job
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Willingness to work as part of a team
