Role Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer
Reporting to: Project Manager
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To support the defence engineering suppliers to ensure that the root cause fixes are in place and to prevent recurring concessions/issues there by achieving the Zero target. To Organise & conduct sessions with design and Manufacturing Engineering team, to come up with improvement plans and follow up for completion.
Provide Engineering support to customers to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems. Drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes including those related to products, equipment and product quality for customers.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
To support the Manufacturing Engineers to make process improvements.
To conduct reviews with the ME & DE on the non-conformances seen on various parts and conducting a study based on the previous accepted Concession data from the SAP and finding the maximum extent of deviation accepted.
Good decision-making capabilities in preparation of process
Sound knowledge in new product introduction in line with the Manufacturing launch plan
Good understanding of key processes, controlling methods, methods of measurement, inspection strategy to create and implement control Plans / Inspection Plans
Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
Support the investigation of all non-conformance reports and all responses using proven problem-solving methodology
Leading the analysing day to day problems by using standard Continuous Improvement methods
Work with interfacing teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required
Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes and technologies to meet current or future requirements
Able to Identify Key process requirements from engineering drawings during the review process with supplier
Asses supplier capacity and capability
Key Technical/Professional Competencies
Understanding of all manufacturing processes including conventional, non conventional , Advanced and Net near shape manufacturing
Understanding of product design and design intents
Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering core processes (e.g. process planning, inspection methods and tooling)
Awareness of aerospace engine products and materials
Good knowledge of Process activity rates, Advanced manufacturing and Cost effective manufacturing methods
Good knowledge of Raw material forms and process (casting, forgings, FBWR, sheet etc)
Good knowledge of special process such as heat treatments, chemical processing etc.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate in a Mechanical Degree/Diploma or equivalent work experience
Should have background on Quality Management Systems

MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
Analysis tools: Minitab, SAP
Product Lifecycle Management: TeamCentre
ADDITIONAL NON-MANDATORY SKILLS
Good understanding of Aerospace manufacturing environment
Willing to travel to the Customer site & Service providers as required- 40-60% travel will be required
Proactive approach to work in a fast-paced environment
