For over 60 years, Thales in the UK has pioneered the increasingly complex science of electronic surveillance. Thales Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions continuously protect British servicemen and women, and the platforms on which they serve and in turn, civilian populations all over the world. Due to current and future projects we need to make a number of new hires in to our UK Electronic Warfare team.
We are currently recruiting for a Chief Engineer who will work with the Project Director within the prime contract office to ensure a high profile programme(s) is delivered on time, cost and quality in which the primary purpose of the role is to provide senior engineering leadership, governance and oversight including anticipating and mitigating risks and maximising opportunities related to the engineering delivery challenges of the programme. As the Chief Engineer you shall be the ultimate engineering and technical authority for the programme overseeing the design, development, integration, verification, validation, qualification and installation of sub-systems (HW & SW) supplied by sub-contractors (both internal and external).
Strong domain knowledge and engineering background in Combat Systems (C2) ideally within naval Combat Management System development and Electronic Warfare (SW) sensor integration
An understanding of complex multidisciplinary defence engineering environments and working across the whole product lifecycle.
Working in a similar capacity inside a large prime contract organisation in the defence environment (leading high value complex programme delivery)
Experienced Managing large sub-contractors as part of a Prime Contract organisation
Commercially knowledgeable and astute
Previously working within complex Engineering environment with strong governance experience
Full lifecycle systems engineering of complex systems, in particular SW development and VM’s
Demonstrable experience in IVVQ and Safety management. Obtaining customer acceptance on complex programmes (inc sub-contracted requirement acceptance)
Managing technical and engineering change across sub-contractors and internal stakeholders
Current holder of UK Security Clearance (SC)
Essential: BEng or higher with honours in an Engineering Discipline (or equivalent)
