Are you an aspiring Test Engineer looking for a graduate role following your studies ? Do you want to work within our established project teams, expanding your technical skills and learning from our existing engineers and customers?
As a Graduate Trainee Test Engineer with Kainos, you will work on projects where you can make a real difference to people’s lives – the lives of people you know . After taking part in our award-winning, seven-week Engineering Academy , you will then join one of our many project teams, to learn from our e xperienced developers, project managers and customer-facing staff. You’ll have great support and mentoring, balanced with the experience of being given real, meaningful work to do, to help you truly develop both technically and professionally.
What you’ll do
As a graduate trainee Test Engineer in Kainos you will assist with a range of system and specialist verification and verification tasks
You’ll work as part of a team to assist with the testing of relatively complex solutions using agile or traditional methodologies
You’ll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with talented colleagues who will help you learn, develop and grow
You will have the opportunity to undertake research outside your normal test activities, take an active part in test process improvement and actively share knowledge with others.
Who you are :
You’ll have completed or are currently studying a relevant third level IT qualification
You have s ome experience of testing from your studies or relevant work experience, and an understanding of different delivery methodologies ( eg. Agile, Waterfall, V-Model)
You will be capable of assisting with test planning, preparation, design and execution tasks
You’ll have a good understanding of test automation and will be able to assist with test automation tasks
You’ll have a good understanding of the use of test metrics to provide accurate, meaningful reporting
You’ll be able to a ssess, prioritise , and track incidents through to closure.
You’ll have a g ood understanding of test management and incident tracking tools and good practice in the use of these tools
You’ll be aware of different categories of testing tools and how they are used to support various test activities.
You’ll have a g ood understanding and application of quality practices as applied to software testing.
You’ll be able to make effective decisions with the support of team members, within fast-moving delivery environment.
You’ll have an open attitude to sharing knowledge and information.
You’ll ideally have some experience of working in a collaborative team environment
You’ll have good communication skills with the ability to communicate issues to other technical people and, sometimes, non-technical people

Travelling will be required (potentially 3-4 nights a week away from your home base.) Full expenses and travel allowance will be paid. You’ll gain invaluable hands on project experience in a fast paced environment, developing your skills and your confidence to help you kick start your career.
