It is an exciting time to join Thales Land and Air Systems! 2020 brings one of the richest landscapes of opportunity with a significant roadmap of projects to deliver as well as additional orders we are hoping to secure.Subsequently, we have a number of software engineering positions ranging from senior to junior engineers. As a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop quality software across a range of projects, operating systems and development environments.
We are looking to hear from Software Engineers from all levels; possessing foundational experience with desire to learn up to technical experts and individuals with experience and values managing and leading teams.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Our capabilities are broad and diverse, providing products and services to the domestic and international markets. Key responsibilities and tasks in the software team include:
Designing, coding, testing, configuring and supporting fully integrated software solutions that meet customer needs and our own high standards.
Working closely with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers and Architects to support the development functional design specifications, high-level system architectures and interface designs. Senior engineers will also be involved in the review of designs and architectures.
Contributing to scrum teams, attending project reviews and ensuring work adheres to established software engineering processes and methodologies
Supporting, encouraging and sharing knowledge with other team members.

Here are some of the key skills, experience and attributes we are looking for in our Software Development team:
Depending on the level of role, Java and/or C++ development experience, supported by a knowledge of design principles
An understanding of configuration, change control and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins would be advantageous
Motivation to learn for producing efficient, clean code
Ability to learn in an agile environment
For senior positions, previous experience of undertaking a senior role within a software development team would be an advantage. Alternatively an aspiration to undertake a senior role with a proven ability to deliver successful software would be considered.
In addition any of the following would be beneficial but not essential to the role:
Web services design and development
Agile methodologies,i.e. SCRUM
Continuous integration and automated test tools
Military software development
Experience of relational databases and SQL
