Our Applied Science practice leverages a unique combination of technologies and expertise to engineer practical solutions to problems of national and international importance. We apply expertise in solid and fluid dynamics, materials science, acoustics, risk assessments and computational simulation methods to solve complex problems. We perform research, mathematical modeling, software development and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants and automotive and airborne vehicles. Military, government, corporate and academic clients’ value the validation of Applied Science’s software and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing.
We have an opportunity for an Engineer for our Applied Science Practice where we use our expert knowledge to develop technical and bespoke solutions for our clients. The role is dependent upon the experience and skillset of the selected applicant but will require supporting projects across a wide range of disciplines, including structural dynamics, technical safety and thermo-fluids. Recent example actitivies include:-
Blast analysis and design for critical infrastructure
Fire modelling of offshore facilities
Material investigations and detailed simulation for vehicle crash
Advanced fluid flow modelling for process facilities
Seismic assessment and design
Life sciences and human heart modelling
The candidate should possess exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills - facilitating positive internal, client and contractor relationships. Excellent tehcnical writing skills for engineering consulting applicatoins are required, as are exemplary engineering/scientific problem-solving abilities.
- Degree (Master’s and/or Ph.D preferred) in Engineering or a related subject and must be able to demonstrate excellent understanding of fundamental principles and problem solving.
- Strong IT skills are required with an enthusiasm to learn new applications and packages.
- Knowledge of programming languages is desirable.
