We are seeking to recruit a Consultant to work within our Construction Environment Team within our Environment Group, based at our Liverpool or Middlesbrough offices. Ability and willingness to travel is a requirement of this role.
Position Overview and Responsibilities
This advertisement is an open call to the marketplace for a Environmental Consultant (Construction) to support key clients and to further develop the service area. Typical projects will be working on client construction sites including Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW), Environmental Manager, ecological support, management of environmental sub-contractors, development of environmental management plans and regulator liaison.

The successful candidate will work in a client-facing role with lead responsibilities for excellent project delivery, valued outcomes and great customer service. Our clients range from small developers to large construction and utilities companies; projects range from short-term interventions to multi-year contracts.

Construction environmental and ecological management.
Management of environmental and ecological sub-contractors.
Environmental impact assessment.
Environmental management plan development.
Permit applications and monitoring / management.

Biodiversity net gain.
Circular economy and resource efficiency.
Environmental legal compliance and permitting.
Chemical and waste management.
Construction site operations and environmental management.
Ecological project management.
Organised, logical and structured; attention to detail.
Communication and training delivery skills.
Creative thinking and ability to identify and drive new business opportunities and projects.
Proficient in GIS and Microsoft Office Professional software packages.
Language skills (English minimum).
The successful candidate will work within a supportive, friendly and driven team, contributing to meeting Team Mabbett targets.
The position may require travel (including overnight stays) throughout the U.K. and abroad depending on project requirements. Company pool cars or hire cars are available for business travel – a valid driving licence is required, valid passport and photo ID is required for air travel. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.K.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and position requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Honors or Masters Degree in environmental management, environmental studies, ecology or a related subject.
Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIEEM / IEMA and/or be Chartered.
CSCS card holder.
Experience and competence (as related to the technical project areas listed above) in:
A successful track record of working as Environmental Manager or ECoW on construction sites is essential.
Handling and management of ecological survey data.
Addressing of ecological and other planning requirements such as preparation of Habitat Management Plans, Monitoring Plans or CEMPs.
Effective task and project management.
Communicating successfully with individuals at all levels.
Professional services delivery and technical sales (desirable).
Desire and enthusiasm to be successful.
Tenacious; a ‘self-starter’ with commercial awareness.
Interest and motivation for continuous professional development.
Good professional network for sub-contractor use.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to motivate others to implement solutions and to drive sales.
Adaptable and flexible.
