We have ambitious plans for growth. By joining us as an Approvals Engineer you will take the lead on certification and approvals for the portfolio of products produced at the Cumbernauld Center of Excellence!
This includes identification of relevant approvals for the range of products, managing the approval process by developing and maintaining an approvals plan, liaising with the appropriate bodies and developing documentation packages, test reports and supporting external testing.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
Work with Product Management and Application Engineering to identify requirements for country or customer specific approvals and review related standards and documentation as appropriate
Identify work required to gain approvals, including any gaps and/or unknowns in product portfolio. Produce written test plans, technical reports, and recommendations
Work with the Engineering team to clarify certification and approvals standards and design approaches to meet those requirements
Liaise with Engineering and Product Management on progress of various approvals projects to develop and maintain a prioritized approval plan and schedule
Support global sales teams with technical information to achieve targeted metrology, legal and customer approvals for Gas Analysis product lines
Work directly with notified bodies to identify and clarify requirements for product and/or application approval, reviewing standards and documentation as appropriate
Interpret applicable regulatory requirements, as appropriate, and apply requirements to the products, documentation, and processes
Compile / develop documentation packages for approvals and manage the document approval cycle (transmittal dates, approval code etc)
Participate in Emerson’s NPD and Engineering Change Order processes to ensure product, documentation, and process compliance to product approvals
Own the Approval’s Technical file for each product and be responsible for maintaining material to ensure data is valid and approved internally and externally
Manage internal / external approval testing, at NRTL’s and customer sites as required
Support and coordinate with manufacturing activities to ensure product approval compliance
Lead internal and external factory audits and inspections including Factory Inspections, WA Certifications
Support, coordinate, inspect and sign off manufacturing activities to ensure product approval compliance
Comply with responsibilities as defined in Emerson’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team
Manage the relationship with Emerson Product Environmental Compliance team to ensure all products are ROHS and REACH compliant
FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:
BEng or BSc in an appropriate Engineering field, degrees in Mechanical or Electrical, helpful
Solid understanding of global product certification standards, including CE mark, ATEX, CSA, UL, UKCA, EMC, and Metrology
Design experience for industrial applications, helpful
Proficiency as a technical author with clear communication style
Great organization skills with demonstrable process-oriented mindset
To be self-directed and motivated in a team-oriented environment
Working knowledge of standard office software tools
Knowledge of ATEX and or other international hazardous area standards
Flexibility to travel may be required, for training or customer support
Minimum of (3) years of applicable experience in certification and approval projects with certifying bodies
