About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager - Purge and Relight to join our Gas business unit to work in Manchester.

Role purpose

A key member of the Operations team with responsibility for Safety, Quality, Cost Control and Client satisfaction relating to the Purge & Relight section.

What you'll be doing
As a Site Manager - Purge and Relight , you will be responsible for the following:-

Personal safety, safety of other personnel under your authority and members of the public;
Reporting all accidents, dangerous, occurrences and near miss incidents on the company statutory forms;
Maintaining good relationships and set a personal example when visiting locations, client’s councils and public;
Ensuring staff have ID cards, Gas safe cards, EUSR cards and other statutory documentation required to carry out their role;
Carrying out Risk and COSHH Assessments, Method Statements, Safety and Quality inspections;
Advising on the Company Safety policy and Quality / Environment & Security procedures;
Set an example demanding high standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental awareness;
Ensuring all persons wear the correct personal protective equipment as required for the task;
Ensuring that only licensed authorised personnel drive/operates plant, vehicles and equipment;
Guaranteeing that company vehicles, plant and equipment are clean, calibrated and safe to use;
Ensuring persons under your authority are made aware of their responsibilities;
Ensuring you are aware of any person who is on medication, which could affect their work;
Removing any employee who is found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in line with company procedures;
Working closely with the Operations Manager Purge & Relight to review operational shift arrangements and update as required;
Supporting Purge & Relight engineers with technical advice and problem resolution;
Working in conjunction with the Customer Service Team to resolve complaints relating to P&R activities;
Surveying activities for internal pipe work alter positions;
Regular communication with Housing Associations and flats management groups;
General tasks as required and directed in support of the Operations Manager Purge & Relight.

Who we're looking for
The following qualifications/experience are essential:-

Supervisory experience in the utilities industry;
Valid CCN1 & MET 1 qualification (supervisor);
Valid U.K Clean Driving Licence;
Working towards or willing to work towards Technical Engineer level of IGEM;
IOSH/CDM/ Risk Assessment trained or equivalent;
Experience in Gas utilisation;
Experience with internal gas related activates;
STC, Environmental Awareness.
