About the Job
We are looking for a motivated trainee to join on our software development team to help the Council use the best development tools to create and assist with the development of software applications/programs. Our software development team provide IT Solutions to solve problems or provide a better user experience for the citizens of Leicester City.
Whilst learning the tools, techniques, and best practices to build software, integrate existing software and handle data, you will find Leicester City Council provides an eclectic mix of problems to solve. You will flex both your technical skills alongside your problem-solving skills to help build our future software and data platforms. You will play a pivotal role of transforming the lives of Leicester residents, seeing your results in action with the ability to refine your solutions to achieve constant improvement.
All of this takes place against a background of working with market leading developer tools from Microsoft, up to date learning resources and a team that will help you grow.
This post is for one Full Time, Fixed Term Graduate contract of 18 months. Interviews will take place w/c August 9th 2021.
Working closely with Seniors in our team, you will follow a course of constant training and learning, whilst delivering real solutions that result in tangible benefits.
Backed by high quality learning resources, you will continue to learn and specialise in these tools, passing on this knowledge to others in your team and Managers via presentations and demonstrations. You will also create and conduct high quality testing to ensure our software is the best it can possibly be for our customers, whilst using your initiative to balance speed and quality of delivery.
What You'll Need
Above all you will be motivated and excited by the fast pace nature of software and data development. You will need to demonstrate a general understanding of how solutions are built from start to finish, and how they are then maintained. You will also need to demonstrate proficiency in at least one development tool and coding language. You should be able to demonstrate how you document fluid software solutions with high quality and relevant documentation. As well as skills in designing and implementing software, you will need to demonstrate good communication and customer support skills.
