InterDigital Europe is seeking to add a research engineer to its 5G and beyond research and development group for a duration of 12 months with possibility of renewal. The role of the research engineer will be to conduct research and development activities in the space of wireless communications. The successful candidate will focus on future physical layer and connectivity technologies and apply machine learning techniques for next generation wireless technology research and development. The candidate will leverage his/her strong applied wireless communications background and skillset in devising fundamental link-level techniques, complemented with data mining techniques in wireless systems using machine learning tools for optimized connectivity solutions.
Successful candidates will enjoy a relaxed startup type atmosphere with the security of a mature organization with over 40 years of history in the wireless industry. This role is based in Shoreditch, one of the most vibrant areas of London, hosting over 500 technology start-ups and companies.
Specific responsibilities in this role will include
Research and develop wireless connectivity solutions for beyond-5G technologies such as ultra-high frequency systems (60 GHz and above), ultra-high throughput communications, e-URLLC, advanced MIMO techniques, positioning, and waveforms
Design and implement link-level simulations to support and verify the developed algorithms
Develop machine learning algorithms and frameworks to optimize the connectivity layer and wireless sensing applications
PhD degree in Electrical Engineering. Strong MSc graduates with equivalent accumulated academic or industrial experience should also apply
Strong background in wireless communications, signal processing, or information theory
Background and experience in the fundamentals of machine learning
Proven publication records particularly in the area wireless communications and/or signal processing
Experience in Matlab, Python and/or C based link-level simulations
Experience in one of ML libraries such as Tensorflow, scikit-learn, Pytorch is a plus
