Principal Engineer – Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) development
The UK programme to develop the Type26 Global Combat Ship for the Royal Navy is underway. BAE Systems are currently constructing of the vessels at our sites in Glasgow. The Type 26 will replace the UK’s Type 23 frigates, with the first set to enter service in the 2020’s and the last remaining in service beyond the middle of the century.
We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer – PLM development to join the team at our site in either Scotstoun or Filton.
As a Principal Engineer – PLM development, you will be leading the delivery of the PLM information management approach, technology and processes based on the PLM strategy. In this role you will also provide PLM business support and education to the programme and ensure its successful utilisation.
This role will provide you with the opportunity of working on some of the most modern developments in naval shipbuilding, and to be involved in a high value programme which will continue for several years to come.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer – PLM development will involve:
Leading the requirements definition, testing and acceptance of the Product Lifecycle Management capability.
Leading the implementation of appropriate business rules and controls for each phase of the product lifecycle and ensuring required level of reporting is delivered for PLM stakeholders
Leading the execution of data management for the project through life, interfacing with stakeholders including the IM&T function.
Assisting in the delivery of an approach to the through life digital thread, including co-ordination of the process across the various stakeholders and toolsets (e.g. CAD to PDM to ERP)
Accountable (with the rest of the PLM Team) for the delivery, support and ongoing co-ordination of a product variation management solution (ship applicability and variant management) across applicable enterprise toolsets.
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer – PLM development:
Previous experience in a similar PLM role is essential with working knowledge of toolsets and processes (e.g. Windchill, Teamcenter, Foran, Aveva ERM)
Definition & implementation of PLM processes & technology solutions
Previous experience dealing with a range of stakeholders including senior management, technical and IT teams
