Are you an experienced BI Team Lead that can transform the University’s Business Information & Reporting service; can you successfully introduce and embed a Power BI First strategy and be responsible for the managed decommissioning of legacy solutions?

You must possess excellent stakeholder management and communication skills and an ability to engage and excite the University around the capabilities and advantages of Power BI.

You will line manage a team of developers responsible for the full lifecycle of BI, from translating initial user requirement, through to report and dashboard design and provision, as well as providing insight and recommendations resulting from the analysis of the data.

The team is experienced and skilled, and are faced with high levels of demand and ever-changing needs. This is an exciting and challenging time to join us. We are looking for the perfect candidate to enhance the current teams’ abilities and drive us on to a new sustainable service offering.

As team leader you will need to accurately plan and prioritise work packages, managing stakeholder expectation around what we can deliver and when. You will also need to demonstrate strong change management and influencing skills to champion the transition toward a Power BI first approach.

What you’ll do

Introduce and embed a Power BI First approach to the University
Develop and maintain operational reports and Business Intelligence applications using MS Power BI and SSRS.
To engage with the business around the capabilities and advantages of Power BI and to facilitate the decommissioning of legacy reporting applications

What you’ll bring

Recent experience in development using Microsoft Power BI and SSRS
Excellent SQL skills to extract data from Oracle or SQL Server databases
Excellent interpersonal skills including experience in working with end-users to capture requirements
Knowledge of our older toolset (Oracle Discoverer and Oracle Reports) would be highly advantageous but not essential
The ability to share your knowledge to the team and to present your ideas to a wide and potentially non-technical audience.
The integrity required to work with both commercially sensitive and personally identifiable information.
