About the role
We’re looking for a Backup support engineer with a strong technical background with a solid experience in technical support.
The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain and monitor Back-up and Storage solutions, reporting daily on Back-up successes in order to maintain our SLA with our clients. The role will require the ability to detect and recognise faults and errors on Back-up software and troubleshoot to successful resolution. The candidate will liaise with Software and Hardware Vendors on issues if required using existing maintenance contracts.
The candidate will also be responsible for data restore requests using a defined incident management tool. These requests will also be subject to contractual SLA and will range from single file restore to full Disaster Recovery of server or site.
The candidate may also be required to perform daily maintenance checks on our SAN/NAS Storage environments and provide troubleshooting in order to resolve any faults or errors. This will again be working in line with contractual SLA with our client.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A highly motivated and conscientious individual, your main areas of responsibility will include:
Diagnose and fix critical IT issues
Liaise direct with customers regarding technical issues
Identify reoccurring technical faults Technically assist other technical teams
Resolve Technical issues
Managing critical IT outages with customers efficiently resolve the situation
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
A high level of technical skills is essential for this role, with a good understanding of Networking, Microsoft products and Hardware.
At least 2 years’ experience in IT
Strong understanding of Back-up and Storage technologies.
Integration skills and working with different departments (Provisioning, Field, Customer services)
Good understanding of general Mircosoft Server, networking technologies and hypervisors
Good communication skills
Good documentation skills
Able to work well as part of a team and individually
Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies
Decision making – displays a willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgement and include appropriate people in the decision making process
Highly motivated – Sets and achieves challenging goals
Quality management – ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality.
Veeam certified engineer (VMCE)
Dell Appasure, Vembu, Zerto or Symantec backup expierence

Strong troubleshooting ability
Although no formal qualifications are essential for this role, the successful candidate should have relevant work related experience, attained a good all-round standard of education and have a good knowledge of current IT technologies.
Location and Working Arrangements:
The position offered is based out of Aspire’s Gateshead Head Office. However, you may, on occasion, be required to work at customer locations throughout the UK.
The working hours are normally Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:30 with 1hr for lunch, although extended hours may be required to cover 7am to 7PM.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to accommodate changes to their working hours and also be available to work weekends & evenings as required.
Reporting and Department:
The role will report directly to the Server Team Leader.
