Responsible for the Civil engineering aspects of the airport infrastructure including roads, pavements, forecourts, car parks, structures, runway and taxiways. You will provide technical expertise and direction to enable the maintenance delivery teams to deliver optimal maintenance achieve ongoing statutory compliance. You will lead in optimising the performance of our assets based on data and monitor emerging trends whilst simultaneously driving efficiencies and reducing our carbon footprint.
MAG is the country’s largest airport group. Our assets include Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports. To ensure that our airports and our 6m Square foot property portfolio, road network, car parks and utility infrastructures are maintained and developed, our Asset Management team works around the clock to drive asset strategy, capital expenditure planning, engineering services, airport asset development, master planning and capacity planning.
This role will provide a vital input whilst the airport goes through a major runway refurbishment program, requiring you to be a key stakeholder supporting the Runway Asset Development Lead.
You will review/implement optimal maintenance strategies/plans for the key civil assets, based on industry best practice including utilising condition-based monitoring (CBM), reliability centred maintenance (RCM), and cost vs. benefit analysis.
You will develop whole life maintenance cost strategies that identify future operating expenditure (opex) and capital expenditure (capex) needs that satisfy service levels and risk. You will review performance and emerging trends from fault data and develop improvement plans to return asset performance to an agreed baseline whilst understanding how continuous improvement can be implemented to further drive performance.
You will preferably be up to date on obsolescence as well as new and emerging technologies to ensure that the best solutions are delivered. The successful candidate will drive the improvement of asset data required by Stansted’s asset system Maximo, report on asset health indices at the airport and contribute to peer asset health reporting at other airports.
A professional qualification or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, preferably MEng/MSc level is advantageous in this role. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of different types of Airfield and Highway pavement failure mechanisms along with a robust working knowledge of the associated management systems. Experience with international airport related Standards EASA / ICAO / DIO and UK Highways regulations is highly desirable.
Membership of the Institute of Asset Management would be advantageous in conjunction with an understanding and experience of Asset Management philosophy, tools and practices. The successful candidate will preferably have excellent communication skills to present a case briefly and logically. The ability to manage budgets (on behalf of others) and influence stakeholders to towards a common goal will be required for this role.
