Materials and Process Engineer
The Material and process Centre of Excellence within Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace is seeking enthusiastic and proactive individuals to join its dynamic Materials and Process Engineering team.
The Materials and Process Engineer is responsible for the design of multiple controls system units such as actuators, valves, pumps, sensors, electrical generators and engine controllers. Our work focuses on getting these complex components to work in the technically challenging environment of a jet engine while meeting strict requirements for safety, durability, cost, and manufacturability. We advance the state-of-the-art for the aerospace industry. We are currently designing and certifying new products, demonstrating new technology through Research and Development programmes, working on sustainable aviation and decarbonisation, and supporting the installed fleets and manufacturing plants. As a Systems and Controls Materials and Process Engineer, you could work on one or more of these exciting projects.

Failure investigation; determining root cause of mechanical or material failure.
Evaluation of new / alternative materials and processes to meet developing supply chain and technology requirements. Prepare and maintain material and process specifications.
Life assessment support to our portfolio of hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical units.
Assess materials and process technical challenges for current product and develop and implement appropriate solutions, such as updating product design definition, without compromising product integrity.
Materials testing – identify requirements, plan, develop test methods, execute (in-house or external), assess and document.
Key Experiences and any Qualifications:
You will be degree-qualified in a Materials based discipline or have equivalent experience.
You will be able to demonstrate analytical and innovative thinking to solve technical problems, as well as a desire for continuous self-improvement.
Ability to plan, time manage and react to changing business priorities, potential to lead technical work packages.
Working to and defining engineering drawing requirements.
Able to work in a laboratory environment and undertake materials testing and inspection activity
Awareness of international aerospace and commercial standards relating to materials or processes
You may have knowledge or experience of product integrity, liability, and aerospace certification frameworks, or similar experience from other regulated industries.
