We are seeking to expand our Liverpool business to meet our growing workload and have an opportunity for a Highways Design Engineer.
We are engaged in the design and delivery of exciting and innovative highways, transportation and public realm projects in Merseyside and across the Northwest, focused largely on the needs of our local and regional clients who include Liverpool City Council, Wirral Borough Council, Trafford Council, Merseytravel and Highways England. Examples of our current projects include:
Liverpool City Centre Connectivity Phase 1 and 2, circa £45M
Public Realm / highway improvements around Anfield / LFC, circa £4m
A41 Key Route Network Corridor Improvements, Birkenhead to Port Sunlight circa £3M
Liverpool Strategic Route Upgrade Projects, typically each £2-3m.
As a Highways Design Engineer at Amey, you will utilise your prior experience in this area to work collaboratively within the highways design team and undertake such schemes.
Our Liverpool team is made up of circa 50 professionals at various levels and with a diverse experience base. We pride ourselves on our mentoring engineers at all levels and can offer significant support towards Chartership and offer bonus of up to £5000 on completion.

In a typical week you will:
Drive effective health and safety practices within your team
Liaise with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions that are developed are suitable for buildability and maintainability
Lead on the delivery of scheme design, as well as providing support to Senior Engineer within the design team on various design duties including:
Feasibility and other technical reports
Planning, programming and cost estimation
Produce design schedules
Review and amend design drawings
Support development of Graduate Engineers and Technicians
Work to programme to deliver specified designs on time
Prepare technical reports (eg Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports)
Ensure innovation and best practice is highlighted and adopted where practicable
Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards
Carry out site surveys, inspections and supervision of junior colleagues on site
We want to hear from you if you have:
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng / IEng through ICE, CIHT or IStructE) or approaching CEng or IEng status having completed the necessary training requirements
Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages
Demonstrable experience in Highway Design within the UK
Good communication skills and the ability to work within a small team and have a dedicated approach to working within and meeting strict deadlines
Good communication skills dealing with clients, developers, consultants, elected representatives and the public
Client focused approach to service delivery IOSH managing safety IOSH working safely
