Thales Cyber and Consulting is the consulting arm of Thales Secure Communications and Information Systems UK. An organisation of over 100 consultants that provide services to both internal Thales and external customers in the form of customer engagement and systems engineering expertise. We are working on a number of exciting projects and challenging projects in customer facing roles, and are looking for passionate systems engineers to join us.
The Systems Engineering Consultant career offers customer facing, exciting and challenging opportunities for all. A Consultant is focussed on assisting our clients in the delivery of their business goals and technical needs through the application of the high quality, professional systems engineering services. To act as a ‘trusted advisor’ to the client, providing mentoring and coaching on the application of system engineering principles to address complex problems. THE POSITION CAN BE BASED OUT OF BRISTOL, READING OR CRAWLEY ON A HOME START CONTRACT, WITH TRAVEL.
The key tasks and responsibilities include:
Requirements elicitation, analysis and definition.
Development of Operational Concepts
Definition, documentation and evaluation of system architectures and designs
Trade-off analysis, modelling and simulation
System integration, verification and acceptance activities
Integrated test, evaluation and acceptance planning
Systems engineering governance
Systems engineering management, including preparation of engineering management plans
Support to proposal / bid work
Skills we look out for:
Detailed working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle, from concept design, requirements capture and management, system and subsystem design, system integration, through to test strategies, acceptance and design update.
Practical experience of requirements management tools (IBM DOORS or similar tools) –
Practical experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools.
Practical experience of Architecture Frameworks (MODAF, DODAF, TOGAF etc.)
Familiarity with commercial and military standards.
Eligibility for Security Cleared to SC
Key Consulting Behaviours:
Demonstrable stakeholder management skills including the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders with varying levels of experience.
Strong interpersonal, organisational and team skills with the experience to tailor personal behaviours to match the client’s organisation and build trusted relationships with clients team members based on mutual respect.
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
