We are looking for a talented and motivated Highways Principal Engineer, with a genuine passion for civil engineering to join our Transportation team here in Leeds.

As a Principal Engineer at Sweco you will:
Be highly technically competent.
Have a proven ability in the leadership, motivation and development of individuals and teams.
Develop appropriate solutions to solve clients' problems.
Manage relationships with individual client contacts to maximise opportunities across the business whilst providing a high service level on the individual project, resulting in excellent client feedback.
Proactively market Sweco with customers and utilise potential opportunities with new and existing clients to develop the business.
Have a broad perspective to enable the identification of innovative solutions.
Your day-to-day activities will include:
Provide technical guidance and direction to the team, and ensure that the team has the required skills, knowledge and tools to undertake all aspects of highway design to complete “technically excellent” delivery in accordance with the client's brief.
Undertake a wide range of highway design elements in accordance with appropriate design standards and software.
Input into the preparation of bid documentation and tenders.
Monitor to ensure project delivery in line with the agreed scope, time, cost and quality.
Manage contractual risk on your projects.
Ensure that Health & Safety is considered as an integral part of any design, construction and maintenance solution.
Continue you own professional development and mentor team members with Sweco's support.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Relevant post qualification highway industry experience.
Experience of working within civil highways sector, knowledge of the UK Design Manual for Roads & Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW).
Proven experience in the management of projects including programming, project governance, resourcing and associated ongoing monitoring.
An excellent understanding of quality management systems and processes, financial project management systems, business and commercial issues.
Ability to effectively influence and inspire others to achieve their potential including junior team members.
The ability to develop and build relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues at all levels with the ability to identify client opportunities and needs.
