The Design Engineers will be focused on new product design and development, major changes to existing products and providing technical support to other departments within the company. The role involves the compiling and controlling of all design data in accordance with industry and company procedures and standards.
KEY TASKS & PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABLITIES:
Analysis of customer requirements and development of design concepts.
Conduct tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
Detailed product design using GERBER.
Application of design rules for technical textile products.
Participation in design reviews.
Preparation of design documentation.
Create detailed component drawings and final assembly drawings.
Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards to products.
Preparation of release notes and drawing checks for drawing release.
Support manufacturing sites through New Product Introduction activities.
Support on-site trial and prototype build/test events.
Apply Design For Manufacture (DFM) rules to facilitate manufacture of products.
Participate in DFM reviews.
Hold technical reviews with suppliers to optimise design for quality and cost.
Provide customer support as required throughout the development process.
RFQ and tender support.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE SKILLS:
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a Product Design/Textiles or Engineering discipline along with proven experience in Flight Equipment and functional clothing design.
Completed suitable education/training of ISO 9001, EASA Part 21 Subpart J and UK MAA DAOS processes.- Desirable
Trained in Pattern Generation Software – GERBER- Desirable
Trained in Auto CAD- Desirable
Time management and planning
CRITICAL SKILLS (Ref QAF590 – 1, Skill Matrix at Level 3 and above)
Auto CAD- Desirable
Technical documentation skills
Understanding Technical Drawings
Garment Design experience within industry
Garment Design experience within an Aerospace or Pilot Flight Equipment background. Desirable.
Knowledge of UK MOD DAOS and EASA Part 21G&J requirements. Desirable.
