Job Title: Trainee Engineer
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 40 per week
Job Location: Durham
Salary: As Trainee Engineer, you’ll receive a salary of between £19,000 and £21,000 plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.
As Trainee Engineer, you’ll be responsible for performing testing on a variety of electrical products, when required, to ensure delivery of testing services that meet the clients requirements in accordance with UKAS quality system. Additionally, while working as Trainee Engineer, you will assist in the support of the department as required and to provide administrative support to none testing departments.
Conduct testing (either lab-based or on client’s sites) in accordance with established procedures, maintaining a high standard of service delivery that ensures effective customer relationships
Complete all chargeable work within the required budget and timeframes to ensure customer satisfaction and efficiency of the business
Ensure completion of all assigned work and relevant documentation e.g. test reports and certificates in accordance with required procedures and standards to fulfil customer expectations
Support in maintaining UKAS accreditation to provide high quality services to clients.
Assist in internal/external calibrations on test equipment to ensure compliance with the quality system
Maintain the lab and storerooms areas to facilitate efficient operations
To be successful in this role, you’ll need recent experience of working under own initiative and in planning and prioritising workloads, as well as must be IT literate i.e. competent in the use of MS Office applications and experience of using large and complex databases.
In addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;
Willingness to learn and adapt to change – committed to continuous personal and professional development
GCSE Mathematics & English Language, or equivalent
HNC in Engineering or equivalent
The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential;
Use of test and measuring equipment e.g. Multi-Meters, oscilloscopes, etc and Test Procedures
Experience of working in a laboratory environment
