Working within a 24/7 team under the supervision of the Team Leader – Digital Radio, monitors the status and performance of the Digital Radio Baseband systems and ancillary equipment, taking corrective action when and where required.
Working with the Radio Network Operators to undertake management of all the networks and systems relating to Digital Radio. Provide technical support for field engineers and act as a technical point of contact for customers on any of the DAB Multiplexing platforms.
End to end management of the Digital Radio platforms for all Arqiva managed commercial DAB multiplexers and associate equipment
Manage multiplexer configurations and service changes as requested by our customers and Arqiva’s radio business unit via Arqiva's change management system
Provide technical support to field engineers, and other Arqiva divisions when required
Accept, acknowledge and respond to all baseband alarms, initiate controls as appropriate. Attempt remote fixes where possible and effectively communicate fault conditions to field staff, customers and service suppliers (e.g. BT, Virgin Media, etc)
Ensure that fault resolution is achieved within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and contractual limits, invoking escalation and disaster recovery procedures as and when required
Write and update processes and procedures where required in accordance with the Arqiva document policy
Produce regular and ad-hoc operational reports within defined time-scales for both internal and external use in response to major incidents and provide input to the development of strategies with a view to minimising the risk of re-occurrence
Have detailed knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the customer and how these are provided by the system(s)
Attend on and off-site training courses and familiarisation visits as required
Be actively involved with new technologies changes relating to the radio business providing input and technical assessment where required and adapt to any changes in the platform and ways of working
Be able to function effectively in a team and demonstrate the interpersonal skills required to work with many different departments to meet the expectations of our customers and ensure exceptional service delivery
Possess self-drive and the ability to prioritise sensibly within a stressful environment
Have a good telephone manner
Be in possession of a full driving licence
Willing to work flexible shift patterns, including weekends and night working
Role, technical or sector experience required:
Overall system knowledge of a Digital Radio network and a Digital Radio ensemble (including Digital Radio multiplex manager set-up)
Understand customer studio equipment relating to Digital Radio
Have a good understanding of audio parameters relating to Digital Radio
Proficient in use of current MS Office applications
General user skills at a command line
General networking skills, SNMP, TCP/IP, Telnet, FTP etc
Ethernet, ISDN, X21 E1 timeslot management, SDH, telecoms clocks
MPEG systems knowledge
Transmission knowledge (COFDM, amplifier etc)
Audio (analogue/AES_EBU and AAC)
