THE ROLE - JOB DESCRIPTION
Working in our mechanical materials team and reporting to the Dept. Manager of Mechanical Engineering the successful candidate will be expected to have a varied experience of process equipment applications in the onshore and offshore oil and gas project environment to include concept, front end engineering design, detailed design, commissioning, and operations.
A specialist and detailed knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials is essential including field experience in the manufacturing, testing, and trouble-shooting. Also required is a good working knowledge of industry standards for materials, corrosion and welding. Experience with appropriate design software such as ECE5 is also required. The ability to develop material selection diagrams, carry out corrosion assessment and develop corrosion control strategy documents is essential.
The minimum qualification requirements for this position are a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering and a full professional qualification as a Chartered Engineer (full member of the Institution of Materials, Minerals, and Mining or a recognised equivalent). Membership of TWI, ICorr and/or NACE would be an advantage.
Job success will depend on interpersonal skills and the effective interaction with others. Selected personnel will be highly competent in written and spoken communication and be able to use a range of standard software such as MS Word and MS Excel to prepare technical documents and to write technical reports.
The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, equipment fabricator, machinery manufacturer or end user company. Personnel would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of applications in the onshore and offshore oil and gas project environment to include concept, front end engineering design, detailed design, commissioning and operations.
