We have an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join our Yell.com DevOps team based at our headquarters in the heart of Reading town centre. You will be working as part of our small team of DevOps Engineers and alongside our Web Application Engineers.
We are in the process of redesigning our entire infrastructure based on DevOps automation principles and we need someone who can contribute both design and implementation to this transformation.
As a DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for creating fully automated, efficient, reliable & structured automated release systems for Yell's external and internal infrastructure. You will also be instrumental in designing and building a new, fully automated, continuously deploying, Kubernetes-based hosting platform on AWS, to host the Yell.com web stack.
Rigorous application of DevOps principles (Infrastructure-as-code etc.) on Yell’s systems (old & new).
Collaborating with software engineering and infrastructure engineers in an Agile environment.
Contributing to a strong culture of technical excellence and solid DevOps skills within the team, challenging the status quo where necessary.
Maintaining an existing Linux estate hosting a variety of Java application environments, on premises and cloud based.
Strong programming skills, with a good understanding of best practices and experience of working on a large codebase as a member of a development team.
Linux server administration experience.
Experience of web application stacks (web servers, load balancers etc.).
Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Python, bash, Git, Docker, ELK stack, Apache.
AWS: RDS, Lambda, EC2, API Gateway etc.
CI/CD pipelines and toolchains using Jenkins.
Previous experience of high SLA standards environments.
Experience of Java based environments with Tomcat.
Experience of using MySQL, Varnish, Netscaler.
Knowledge of microservices architecture and patterns.
Knowledge of Agile.
We don’t expect candidates to have experience in all of these, but a willingness to learn and good knowledge of some of these items is desirable.
