Industrialisation > Test & Verification > Blade & Material Testing
The department is an integral part of the product development, from looking at the materials used through to the testing of full-scale blades. The purpose of the department is not only to work towards the certification of the products but to also increase the certainty of success in what is becoming a very dynamic market.
This role will cover two main areas, firstly the role will involve the design and development of substructure testing and secondly the execution of tests to support the project requirements
Working alongside the blade design group and prototyping group you will be responsible for developing substructure tests that will help in the validation of the new blade designs. This will involve the design of the test equipment and the substructures themselves
You will be responsible for following the processes required to fully execute the required tests according to the various project scopes
Typical responsibilities include:
Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, dynamic calculations and review equipment requirements. Preparing technical documentation to support process improvements
Specify test rig control systems and data acquisition requirements. Involvement in mechanical test systems integration and support design of electrical / electronic interfaces
Collaborate with other Test Engineers to develop reports and specifications tests. Work with colleagues in UK, DK and further afield - Engineers, Project Managers as examples
Test control and DAQ - LabView (training may be given)
Facilitating the DVPL and overseeing the execution of the plan
Participating in peer reviews and technical reviews where necessary
Degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical Engineering or similar, Control Engineering Degree would be an advantage
Proven competence in mechanical testing, instrumentation engineering or testing in composites aerospace/automotive/marine industries or similar
High level of safety awareness
Good attention to detail with a methodical and flexible approach
Experience of sub-structuring fatigue tests
Experience of Finite analysis tools
Confident communicator at all levels internationally
Proactive and self-motivated
Resilient, able to handle changing situations and multiple priorities
