To robustly design new tooled component and support existing components in line with the required timing, resolving all engineering issues in a cost and weight efficient manner.
Responsibility to develop new tooled components working with Lear suppliers such as plastic parts, rubber parts, metal parts, connectors, terminals, eyelets etc., within the limitations of customer SDS and Lear design & manufacturing requirements.
Working alongside the EDS Engineering team to ensure the design of the wire harness, reporting to the Component Team Leader.
List of Responsibilities:
Develop technical solution to specification, cost & weight requirements to support harness fitment and routing in vehicle.
Prepare RFQ packages to purchasing team for sourcing of new component at the Lear suppliers.
Lead supplier design activities and design reviews.
Ensuring the use of engineering specifications and procedures for the components.
Manage new component sign off to Lear & customer manufacturing plant.
Participate in DFMEA’s together with cross functional team.
Agree on supplier Design validation requirements and follow up to the results with approval.
Be aware of all relevant Lear & customer engineering specifications and procedures for the components.
Support DFM activities.
Support Lear plants to understand customer specifications to obtain PPAP/PSW on the components.
Supervising the preparation of all necessary drawings and 3D files for customer and internal releases.
Work cross functionally with engineering, program, commercial and purchasing team, supporting customer meetings as required
Knowledge of tooling such as injection, stamping projection tools.
Knowledge of Engineering and design tools
Knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, DFMEA, 8D
Knowledge of CAD tool Catia V5
Knowledge of how to read technical drawings

Strong sense of ownership of complete solution from collection of input data via design review and FMEA to part release and build support
Degree or equivalent in suitable engineering discipline
Electrical harness engineering background (preferred)
Knowledge of FEA applications (preferred)
